International

HIAH actively engages in international cooperation to bring global expertise and best practices into the Czech housing sector while sharing Czech experience with European partners. Through participation in high-level policy discussions, expert working groups, research initiatives, and international conferences, HIAH contributes to shaping the future of affordable and sustainable housing in Europe.

These activities strengthen HIAH’s analytical capacity, expand its network of strategic partners, and ensure that Czech housing policies reflect the latest European developments. International cooperation is therefore an integral part of HIAH’s mission to support evidence-based housing investment and policy-making in the Czech Republic.

Strategic Partnerships and Activities

Housing Europe

SFPI joined Housing Europe in 2024 as a partner to better understand the EU level and learn from international experts on housing how to develop our schemes and advisory services up to European best standards. In 2025, SFPI hosted two major international events on housing finance in Prague within a Working Group dedicated to this topic. In June 2026, we became a member with voting rights, and our colleague Čestmír Hrdinka became Chair of Housing Europe’s Working Group on Energy and Construction. We consider this a game changer for our involvement in the European housing agenda.

Thanks to Housing Europe, we have:

• access to the latest information on the EU policy agenda, which we use to keep our programmes up to date and shape the agenda based on our local and national experience from the housing sector;

• daily contact with housing providers from across Europe who share their knowledge with us and from whom we learn how to develop our advisory services and support programmes and shape the agenda at all governance levels;

• access to and the opportunity to contribute to high-level international events such as the International Social Housing Festival, Responsible Housing Finance Summit, Annual Housing Europe Conferences and other events organised by Housing Europe;

• access to and the opportunity to contribute to the agenda of the Responsible Housing Finance Working Group, through which we have gained extensive knowledge of EU-level financing, international best practices and developed a solid network of advisors to Czechia.

HIAH International Board

HIAH has a group of top-level international experts who act as advisors on specific topics of interest to our group. Their knowledge and experience bring significant value to our work and discussions and elevate them to an international level. Every year, the Board puts together a meeting note to evaluate the progress of HIAH’s analytical work and provide advice on further steps.

HIAH actively participates in international events and also organizes them. Through these activities, we strengthen our expert reputation while continuously enhancing our own expertise, keeping abreast of the latest trends and policy developments, and building partnerships that can support future cooperation and negotiations benefiting the Czech Republic and its housing sector.
